Beyond Academia
The WSIP, as part of its mission to connect students to the world beyond academia, will engage in activities that introduce Ph.D students to alternate career tracks. Our first initiative is the Mellon PhD Liaison Program, which features PhD internships sponsored by the organizations of Visiting Fellows, (e.g. activist, arts, policy, or academic institutions). Supported by stipends, these internships will be similar to the ACLS/Mellon Leading Edge Fellowships but shorter term (1-4 weeks). The goal of this program is twofold:to construct Global Studies bridges between academic and non-academic worlds and to widen career opportunities for Humanities students.
