I am interested in the origins, persistence and protracted disappearance of the peasantry as capitalism becomes globalized. 2. I am particularly interested in this process in Europe before the seventeenth century, Africa in general, and East and South Asia in the Yuan, Ming, Qing and Mughal periods. 3. I have long considered myself as someone who sees historical materialism as a reasonable hermeneutic or interpretive prism.
