1. Research Questions: What are the binding relationships among visual and material culture and colonial history—both as lived experience in the early modern past, and as an interpretive project in the 21st century?

Provisional sketch of essay:

I could imagine an essay that explores the generative possibilities of specific works of material/visual culture from the early modern Americas (generative vis a vis messy questions of interest to the WISP project more broadly).
